Sometimes all of my good fortune makes me wonder whether I’m actually appreciating it enough. And if I’m honest, I have to admit that no, I’m not sure I am. Which then makes me think that there must be some flaw in my personality on my brain chemistry, which means I just have to get used to the fact that no matter what happens, I’m never going to be a person who can ever just… be happy.

So, I have some meta about Ms. Octavia Spencer being prominent in this dystopian sci-fi film.

…This black woman who isn’t skinny, young, light, or what Hollywood would ever consider even cast-worthy as the prominent leading lady on the “good guys” side, got her own character posters and is a huge plot motivation for the film.  She got to be active, smart, loving, and amazing.  Which of course happened because this wasn’t made in Hollywood.

Snowpiercer was made in South Korea.

At a screening of an older film of his (Mother also good!), the filmmaker specifically said he wasn’t  interested in making a Hollywood movie *precisely because* they are obsessed with casting a certain type and he valued talent over that.  In South Korea, he could keep his artistic freedom.  …That’s Boon-Jong Ho, BTW who first got on the world’s radar with The Host.

When asked which American actors he wanted to work with most, he answered Viola Davis (this was before The Help) and Toni Collette, two talented women.

Considering the roles Octavia tends to play in Hollywood, I am #1 glad she got to play this and #2 annoyed that I don’t get to see more people like her in these genre roles.

…I’m also glad that at least one movie squashes the notion that only skinny, young, Hollywood-”sexy” people would ever have any say or relevance in these scenarios.

It’s (Birthday) Tradition

weilongfu:

Pairing: TinCan
Based off my head canon about how Tin and Can celebrate their birthdays. Could sort of fit into Love is a disaster series, but I’m not sure I want it there yet.

Also I wrote this because in approx. 3.5 hrs, it will be my birthday so I wanted Tin and Can to celebrate their birthdays with me.

Summary:
Everyone has their favorite ways of spending or celebrating their birthday. Tin and Can have special ways they celebrate for themselves and each other.

LBC TinCan Ficlet

I am on a roll and Can is an adorable idiot 😀 so please enjoy another little ficlet

Tin had told him ridiculous stuff in the past. The reasons behind his actions for example. Can knew that he himself had weird thought processes sometimes, but Tin took all of that to a whole new level.

The weirdest information Tin ever had given Can was “I am with your Mum. Shopping.”

Can checked twice if the text he had received was from the right number, but yes, Tin had told him, that he was shopping… with Can’s mum.

“What the hell?”

He stomped downstairs but no one was home and wouldn’t he notice if Tin had picked up his mother? He looked at Gucci, but the dog just wagged his tail one time and yawned.

“I still haven’t forgiven you,” Can told the dog. Just last week Gucci the betrayer had put his head on Tin’s lap and had had the audacity to sigh in bliss.

He wrote his sister.

>Where is mum?”

>Shopping with P’Tin. I AM SO JEALOUS!

This was official the weirdest day of Can’s life. At the same moment his phone peeped. Tin had sent him a picture.

It was a selfie.

It was a selfie of Tin and Can’s Mum. Smiling at the camera…

Can smiled involuntary. He put his hand over his mouth after realizing he was smiling because of this stupid idiot and looked around. Only Gucci was looking at him. Can frowned. He didn’t trust their dog anymore, so he slowly walked backwards until he was at the staircase.

“Don’t tell anyone,” he said to Gucci and ran upstairs into his bedroom to yell in his pillows.
