i mean i can read a 15,000 word one shot with perfect spelling and grammar, or a story with 50 chapters and 200,000 words that looks like itâs been through google translate five times
listenâŠ. middle aged ships are my jam. thereâs something hopeful about seeing two older people fall in love (or still being in love) on my screen.Â
give me two workaholics who realise thereâs more to life than their job when they meet each other.Â
give me two people whoâve been to hell and back together for years and have always had each others backs.
give me two people whoâve been married for decades and are more in love than ever.Â
give me two lonely people thrown together in a life or death situation and let them realise they wouldânt want anyone else by their side.Â
give me two people whoâve been heartbroken more times than they can count who find hope in each other.
Story time: I started reading a book about 23 hours ago and just finished it. Also in that time, I slept for 10 hours, spent time with family, was at work, etc. Anyway, I enjoyed the book (Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda,) but it felt like it flew by. So after I finished I looked up the word count because what are pages? Pages are meaningless. I only function in word counts anymore.
The estimate I found was 58,580. My immediate reaction was âoh, thatâs why. Thatâs nothing!â But what a shitty response. Because no. Thatâs not nothing. Thatâs a whole. Damn. Book. An entire novel! And fic authors regularly bust out 30k, 50k, 100k, 150k words. AND THEY DO IT FOR FREE. WHILE WORKING AND LIVING THEIR LIVES.
So anyway, thank your favorite fic author today because they deserve it. Because theyâre amazing. Theyâre the MVPs.
Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, weâre proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.
Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, weâve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. Weâve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, weâre taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions). Â
Letâs first be unequivocal about something that should not be confused with todayâs policy change: posting anything that is harmful to minors, including child pornography, is abhorrent and has no place in our community. Weâve always had and always will have a zero tolerance policy for this type of content. To this end, we continuously invest in the enforcement of this policy, including industry-standard machine monitoring, a growing team of human moderators, and user tools that make it easy to report abuse. We also closely partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Watch Foundation, two invaluable organizations at the forefront of protecting our children from abuse, and through these partnerships we report violations of this policy to law enforcement authorities. We can never prevent all bad actors from attempting to abuse our platform, but we make it our highest priority to keep the community as safe as possible.
So what is changing?
Posts that contain adult content will no longer be allowed on Tumblr, and weâve updated our Community Guidelines to reflect this policy change. We recognize Tumblr is also a place to speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey. We want to make sure that we continue to foster this type of diversity of expression in the community, so our new policy strives to strike a balance.
Why are we doing this?
It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community. As Tumblr continues to grow and evolve, and our understanding of our impact on our world becomes clearer, we have a responsibility to consider that impact across different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets. We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.
So whatâs next?
Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. Community members with content that is no longer permitted on Tumblr will get a heads up from us in advance and steps they can take to appeal or preserve their content outside the community if they so choose. All changes wonât happen overnight as something of this complexity takes time.
Another thing, filtering this type of content versus say, a political protest with nudity or the statue of David, is not simple at scale. Weâre relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check. We know there will be mistakes, but weâve done our best to create and enforce a policy that acknowledges the breadth of expression we see in the community.
Most importantly, weâre going to be as transparent as possible with you about the decisions weâre making and resources available to you, including more detailed information, product enhancements, and more content moderators to interface directly with the community and content.
Like you, we love Tumblr and what itâs come to mean for millions of people around the world. Our actions are out of love and hope for our community. We wonât always get this right, especially in the beginning, but we are determined to make your experience a positive one.

Hereâs the problem with this, and it is a problem
This is aimed at most NSFW instead of the actual problem which is the bots, pedophilia and other mental/political issues that could be dealt with.
Trying to remove most positive and other wise ok NSFW because YOU lacked the ability and time frame to remove bots and viruses from YOUR platform is YOUR problem and lead to it being our problem and now YOU are punishing the people on here for it.Â
And the âno shortage of adult sitesâ statement is absolutely abhorrent that you view it that way. Some people donât wanna go to those sites. Some people donât like videos. Some people may want to explore privately or express themselves in ways that they don;ât want to do fully and publicly. Â
Certain tags and things i can understand removing but reducing it to just talking about sex positivity âŠisnât positive. You are TAKING away peoples right to freely express themselves.Â
Ya know what i also remember from years ago when you yahoos took over the site? There was a big outcry about the possibly blocking of NSFW content, i laughed honestly because some of it was over dramatic.Â
The werenât wrong. You are.Â
Don;t punish people because you and your company didnât handle and issue that the people on this damn site pointed out for months on end and you didnât do a damn thing about it.Â
â ïžPlease read if you are a content creator or sex worker!! Adult content will no longer be allowed on tumblr starting December 17thâ ïž
I do not give a fuck if this doesnât suit your blog. Boost this so everyone can prepare and have a backup plan. This is absolute bullshit but they were never supporting us anyway.
And donât give me âwe donât pay our taxesâ because we do. Bye. Thanks for turning into shit Instagram.
Well⊠at least I started moving EVERYTHING onto AO3. So I guess now EVERY FIC is going on to AO3.
Yeesh⊠gotta find something to name my SOTUS drabbles.
Iâm not moving moving, but more backing them up. Itâs a safety thing. Especially since some of my fics have been on posts with images. None of the images were subject to Tumblrâs new guidelines, but who knows whatâs going to happen to Tumblr in the coming weeks?Â
I sure as heck donât and Iâve been on this site for years, since 2009. According to that one post I see pop up once in a while, I am among the youngest of the great old ones.Â
Realistically, AO3 is a much better archive than Tumblr is. Itâs also possible to actually search for things on AO3 based on what you want to see and what you donât. And if Yahoo suddenly decides that even written erotica is no longer permitted, well then Iâm already covered!Â
Creators, no matter what they make, should always take steps to protect themselves and their work when the looming threat of deletion and banning are on the horizon. Iâm just doing what I think I should do to make sure that those who love and enjoy my fics can continue to do so even after Tumblrâs policies continue to change.
My original plan was to make it entirely a comedy. Even in my notes on the post, I mentioned the original title: âNo room for brooding (Get out of the damn shower).âÂ
You can still see the humor origins in the first few scenes. Tinâs attempts to talk to himself are rather broken just so you laugh at the implications. Canâs reactions are a little too oblivious about whatâs going on.Â
But as I progressed, I found I couldnât make everyone laugh at Tin. It just wasnât happening. You can blame the MV or you can blame my soft and emotional heart. All the same, it felt wrong to just laugh at Tin here.Â
I felt like I wanted something bigger to happen, something bigger between Can and Tin needed to happen. So I reworked it a bit and asked, âWhat if Canâs inattentiveness, his obliviousness, came back to bite him a bit?âÂ
A lot of times in fanfic before the last few episodes, Can was portrayed as the emotionally aware one. This was an interesting way to test what would happen if he wasnât.Â
ALSO in order to spill some more tea, it was only after I wrote this fic and slapped several others into this âverse that I realized I made a bit of a continuity error. In âThe Worst Kissâ, Can seems to know where Tinâs spare key is hidden because he bursts in on Tin having a minor breakdown over his emotions in the bathroom. Here in âThe walls have earsâ, Can says that Tin doesnât believe in leaving spare keys anywhere and doesnât have one. Sadly, the spare key was lost in the space-time-fic-paradox in between a few fics.Â
Thank you for answering again after my stupid blunder! đ
Iâve just left a rambling comment on AO3 so Iâll keep this reply short.
