For the My Dream prompts. Something where just after Gunai’s second kiss Guide interprets Tainai saying “I give it back to you” as his way of saying “I don’t want your kiss, take it back”? (Sorry but I’m actually dying rn so I’m feeling really angsty)

florbexter:

Hey you! Thank you for the prompt, and I hope you feel better? Because ‘actually dying’ has me concerned. I hope this fic lifts you up a bit even tho it’s angsty… so maybe not?

Guide had no idea how he went from the driveway to his room. At one point he had looked back before he entered the house to see if P’Tanai was still there. But he had no idea if he said hello to the housemaid or if he saw one of his parents.

His neck burned, his lips prickled.

A smile wanted to break out and he had to sit down.

“Crazy,” he whispered and touched his lips with trembling fingers.

He could still smell P’Tanais aftershave and the distinctive scent of motor oil.

How had that even happened?

He sat on his bed and rubbed his hands over his face. His cheeks burned and he felt like he was on the beach again, drunk and full of ideas which had seemed clever at that time but at the light of another morning were just stupid decisions which made his stomach churn.

“I give it back to you.”

What does that even mean? He let himself fall back on the bed and grabbed a pillow to hug. He had no idea what to think, what to feel. Yaimai’s visit had stirred him up so much. Normally it helped him to swim, to power his body out, but his mind just wouldn’t stop thinking. Comparing the feel of Yaimai’s lips to Tanai’s and trying to suppress a whole body shiver every time he thought of P’Tanai. Who wasn’t able to keep on a shirt…

The urge to call him hadn’t left him the whole day and if he was honest with himself he hadn’t thought that Tanai would want to meet him.

He had wanted to talk to Tanai about his feelings for Ai Way. It turned out very differently. As always when he met him. He felt so at ease with him and all his concerns and worries just left his mouth without a second thought. He should be embarrassed, shouldn’t he?

“I give it back to you.”

That meant nothing good, right? Damn, he knew that Tanai was in love with Runway. He talked with him about his feelings, he. knew. it.

They had been drunk, so the kiss meant nothing. Tanai had been too drunk and too surprised to push him away. He hadn’t kissed back, it had been a stolen kiss. So he had given it back. They were even now as if nothing ever happened between them. He never had P’Tanais consent, to begin with, his kiss had never been welcome.

“Shit.” He put the pillow on his face to silence his scream of frustration. There was no point in daydreaming about the kiss, no point in analyzing his feelings because there was no one who reciprocated these feelings. P’Tanai just was too polite to outright say: “I don’t want your kiss, take it back.” The one he wanted to kiss was Runway, not Guide. The thought made his stomach clench and his eyes began to burn

“Stupid, stupid, stupid.” Why was he so stupid?

But he couldn’t, he couldn’t stop thinking about how happy he had been mere hours ago. How his heart had beaten so fast when he heard Tanai’s bike, how his warmth had seeped into him from the points their bodies had made contact. The look on his face as Guide sang to him. How his heart had skipped a beat when Tanai had moved closer to sing to him, too. The feel of riding behind him on the bike, the wind in his face, Tanai in front of him.

“Stupid,” he murmured again, his hands clenched to fists in the fabric of the pillow.

Movie nights

It still surprised Tanai, even after over a year. It still surprised him how tactile Guide was with him. Guide never shied away, never avoided his touches, never made him feel like they were just friends.

“I strongly disagree with your choices,” Guide proclaimed and let himself fall back on the couch, tight against Tanai’s side. He put the bowl of popcorn on Tanais lap and threw him a look out of the corner of his eyes.

“Salty popcorn… I’m not sure what I see in you.”

Tanai just laughed and pulled him closer. Guide rested is head against his shoulder and put one leg above Tanais. During the movie they would, as always, slide more and more sideways until the would lie on the couch, Guide on top of Tanai, a heavy but comforting weight.

Guide used the remote control to start the movie and absently reached into the bowl. Tanai just shook his head slightly. Maybe next year Guide would finally admit that he also liked salty popcorn.

Living together

For all the kisses, all the times they slept together, cuddled and said ‘I love you’, Tanai had known that they would be together forever after he had found the note Guide had written. A list about the criterias their future apartment had to meet. Music room had stood there. Underlined three times. Tanai hadn’t been supposed to see the note, he knew that. Maybe it had fell from Guide’s bag or he had forgotten to throw it away. But he had seen it and his heart had beaten so fast. He had known then that Guide… he was his. Forever.

“What kind of songs are stuck in your head?” Guide sounded sleepy and Tanai looked at the clock. It was almost 3am in the morning. Tanai turned around with his chair, but before he could say sorry Guide already sat down on his lap, pulling the blanket he brought with him around both of them. He smelled like sleep and the detergent they used for their laundry.

“When is the deadline?”, Guide asked. His face was pressed against Tanai’s throat, his nose a bit cold against his skin.

“Next week,” Tanai said and he felt Guide shiver, because his words tickled the sensitive tip of his ear.

“I bet they’re great.”

“You always think so.”

“And I’m always right.”

Tanai just laughed. He kissed the top of Guide’s head and thought about all the times Guide had told everyone the love-songs Tanai wrote were about him. He had an extra smug smile for those occasions.

But he was right of course. All of them were about him.

Nicknames

Tanai looked down at his boyfriend, who currently cursed at his phone because somewhere someone was about to kill him in a weird gaming app.

“Damn it,” he said and made a twisting motion with his upper body as if he could avoid his online death with that move.

“I’m heading out,” Tanai said and leaned down to get his goodbye kiss.

“Sure babe,” Guide said and kissed him.

Tanai was not amused. First, it was a short kiss, secondly Guide hadn’t looked up from his phone. And…

“Babe?”

Guide mhmte and cursed again at someone who should have  protected his flank, damn it, and Tanai was torn between annoyance and amusement. Guide always called him Tanai or P’Tanai. On one occasion he had said P’Nai and Tanai had forbidden him to ever use it in public, because he would lose it. Guide saying P’Nai in a breathless slightly mocking tone was his undoing.

“Guide,” he said, looming over him. Guide lifted one finger to silence him and Tanai shook his head. Unbelievable. He grabbed Guide by the neck and kissed him. Kissed him until Guide dug his fingers in his shoulders to regain balance and little gasps escaped him.

“What… what was that?”, Guide asked, his pupils blown wide open and a blush high on his cheeks.

Tanai grinned.

“Just a goodbye kiss, babe.”

“What? Hey! Wait!”
