This is an interesting headcanon request! I can’t imagine them spending that much time in prison but I’ll try.
Ae would be in prison because he almost beat someone to death for hurting Nong Yim. He almost got put in jail for this in the series (but because Pete was assaulted) so it’s not that much of a stretch.
Pete would be in prison because Trump framed him for a financial crime and then fled the country.
The reason I don’t see Pete being there long is because he’s too delicate. It would break his spirit to be in such a violent hyper masculine place for a long period of time. I also think that his Mother would pay to have him released considering the fact that they’re very wealthy and Thailand has a corruption problem.
By the time Pete arrives, Ae has been there for six months and he’s used to it already. When he first gets there people thinks it’ll be easy to mess with him because he’s short, but they get clued in pretty quick when he breaks someone’s arm for trying to touch him in the showers.
Pete gets assigned to be Ae’s cell mate and he’s terrified. Not just because it’s prison but because the guards make jokes about how Ae’s going to ‘tear him apart’ and other crude things that Pete doesn’t understand.
When Ae sees Pete for the first time, his hackles immediately rise. A mistake, is the first thing he thinks. There’s no way someone as fragile as this man could have done anything to deserve to be in here. Pete just makes his assessment worse when he flinches and shakes at the sound of the gate being closed.
The first night, Pete cries. It happens to everyone but Ae still lies there, tense, as he listens to Pete cry into his sheets. It sounds like the cries of a child, not a man. It makes him want to comfort him. He can’t stand it so he bangs the bed and asks Pete if he can stop.
Pete’s crying just gets louder at the sound, and it makes Ae feel worse. Pete says he’s sorry, but he’ll try. His cries get quieter because he covers his mouth, but they’re just as intense.
Ae gets down and climbs into bed with Pete. That stops Pete’s tears but only because he’s so scared of what Ae is going to do. But all he does is stroke Pete’s hair, the way he used to do to Nong Yim. It’s so gentle, it surprises Pete into rolling over so he’s facing Ae. This close, Ae can see just how pretty Pete really is, even with his eyes full of tears. Someone else will definitely try to take him once they’re released in the morning, and for some reason the thought makes Ae furious.
Pete says, “Thank you. I’m sorry for being annoying,” because he is thankful. This is the first kindness anyone has shown him since he got there. Ae can’t stop himself from pinching Pete’s cheeks because of how cute his voice is. He tells Pete, “If you’re sorry then stop crying and go to sleep now.”
When they’re released in the morning for breakfast, Ae keeps a close eye on Pete. He walks too slow and gets yelled at and Ae has to stop himself from fighting the guard. He’s even slower getting breakfast and gets shoved out of line by other inmates. Ae leads Pete by the waist to sit at the lone table he usually sits at when he sees him standing there like he doesn’t know what to do. He knows what it looks like to the others, and he’s fine with it. If they think Pete belongs to him then no one will bother him. He ignores the fact that he actually wants Pete to belong to him, because he’s not that kind of man.
Ae gets twice as much food because he eats so much so he gives it to Pete, and then a little more. The food is complete crap and someone as thin as Pete can’t afford to lose anymore weight.
Without thinking about, Pete falls under Ae’s protection. He’s never protected anybody in there because no one has ever deserved it. Most of the men in there are disgusting, but Pete is so innocent and pure, Ae wants to keep him that way.
One night when they’re sleeping, Ae asks Pete why he’s in there. Pete hesitates before saying, ‘My ex-boyfriend framed me for money laundering.” It’s not the crime he’s scared to say, but the boyfriend part. Ae feels a mixture of emotions. His sees red at the fact that Pete was framed but also at the fact that he had a boyfriend.
Pete asks, “Does Ae hate me? Now that you know?” Ae’s confused so Pete clarifies and says, “I’m gay.” Ae says he could never hate Pete. He just hates his boyfriend for doing that to him. What he doesn’t say is, he hates the fact that Pete’s ex-boyfriend has been inside him, but all Ae can do is hold him.
Ae spoons Pete every night. Pete’s blankets are thin compared to what he’s used to at home, and Ae’s warm bulk is comforting. Ae wants to keep Pete warm, but it’s also because he doesn’t feel like Pete is safe if Ae’s not holding him.
Pete ends up getting released after two months when his Mother is able to gather enough money from all of her accounts to get him out. It’s a quiet thing, because it’s all under the table.
Pete is curled up in Ae’s arms when someone comes to get him in the middle of the night and just drags him out. Ae almost fights the guards because he wants to know where Pete is being taken but no one will tell him anything.
Pete doesn’t understand what’s going on either and just keeps crying, which makes Ae even more panicked.
Pete only realizes what’s going on when he’s taken to holding and they give him the clothes he came in. Within an hour, he’s in his Mother’s arms being driven back home.
Pete feels lost back in the real world, after two months of basically living in a bottle. It doesn’t feel right, to not have a schedule or a routine. He can just sleep for hours at home and no one will come to drag him out of bed. He can shower for an hour in complete privacy. He can even eat as much as wants. But the biggest thing he has to get used to is being without Ae. He sleeps for 14 hours the first night he’s back in his own bed but after that it’s hard, because he doesn’t have Ae’s warmth at his back.
Pete’s reluctant to talk about anything that happened while he was in there because he doesn’t want to make his Mother upset, but she’s the one who wants to know everything. It’s actually worse to her that Pete won’t talk because it just makes her assume the worst. Pete finally tells her everything when she starts quietly crying while they’re having one of many silent breakfasts.
He tells her about everything, skimming over the ugly parts, but most of his stories are about Ae. About how he was kind to him and became his protector while he was there. He doesn’t think he would still be the same Pete, if Ae wasn’t there to keep him safe. By the time he’s finished, Pete is the one whose crying because he hasn’t talked about Ae to anyone. Sharing it with his Mother makes it feel more real.
After hearing about how Ae protected her son, Pete’s Mother decides to repay the favour. A life for a life seems like a fair trade, so without telling Pete, she pays off officials to have Ae released early. The only reason she doesn’t tell Pete is because she doesn’t want to put pressure on Ae. If he wants to see Pete again, then he will. If he just wants to live his life then that’s fine too.
Ae goes to meet Pete within the week. Pete’s started attending some classes part-time at the University to get used to studying again, before planning to go as a full-time student the next semester. He’s walking to his car when he sees Ae and he thinks he’s hallucinating. But despite how many times he blinks and pinches himself, Ae is standing right there. It’s the first time Pete’s seen him in normal clothes, and he looks so handsome Pete can barely look at him.
All Ae has to say is, “Pete-” before Pete throws himself into his arms. He never thought he’d see Ae again so he holds on to him like he could disappear at any moment. Ae holds him back tighter than that, and it feels exactly the same as it did all those nights where Ae held him.
When they finally pull away, Ae says, “You look good. Just how I expected you’d look out here, a proper Koon-Chai.” Pete quickly says, “Ae looks good too.” before blushing bright red. Ae’s just wearing a T-shirt and jeans, but he’s still the most handsome man in Pete’s eyes.
It’s the radio silence that drives Can crazy the most.
No messages sent at whatever time of the day. No ridiculous yet cute selfies with even more sickeningly sweet captions. No abrupt yet beloved calls. Nothing. Imagine being surrounded by them every single day for 2 consecutive months and then whoosh, nada.
And it’s not like Can can blame anyone but himself. The one who said ‘no’ is him. The one who rejected the proposal and got left behind in the parking lot is him. The one who watched the car drove away is him. The one who found a secluded corner by the IC’s Science Lab to cry is him.
Also imagine this. Pete coming to soccer practices and Can unconsciously glancing over at the space behind him every single time, void of something (someone), hope soaring one second and falling the next. Imagine Can typing out the beginning of a message before bedtime just to backspace and delete because it dawns on him of how unwanted the action is. It’s the small little things that hurts him, kills him a little bit every single day.
Imagine Can slowly realising just how much Tin has occupied every breathing space of his life in such a short amount of time and having to unlearn the habits he has picked up when his life has Tin.
His mum makes the little boats herself and it’s a family tradition to go to the Chao Phraya River and let them float
the Krathong’s floating symbolizes letting go of all one’s hatred, anger, and defilements and Can brings Tin with him because if someone needs that kind of letting go it’s him
Tin never went with his family to these kinds of festivals and first, it’s too crowdy and loud, but the moment Can’s mum grabs his arm to bring him in the circle of their family so all of them can put the boats on the river together his heart overflows with feelings
also Can said that lovers put the boats on the water together to symbolize their togetherness and oh boy Tin is sold
Yi Peng
is mostly celebrated in northern Thailand (Chiang Mai) but more and more everywhere in Thailand in the last couple of years
Can loves the floating lights and they met with all their friends to light the lanterns
Can and Tin hold the sky lanterns together and look each other in the eyes while letting their lantern go
Can follows their lantern with his eyes and points out how high it flights but Tin can’t take his eyes from Can’s face
It’s the first time they doing something traditional meaningful together as a pair and it’s one of Tin’s favourite memories
Okay so. I was thinking. We as a fandom have pretty much collectively decided Tin is a dedicated student who doesn’t necessarily want to go into his family’s business but is determined to do his best anyways. But what does he want to do? We know Ae and Can are athletes in their spare time and Can also plays video games. We know Pete writes in a journal and is a bit crafty but what does Tin do? What does he like?
So I was thinking about this and I have decided. Tin spends an inordinate amount of time alone and it can’t all be studying so what do 18~ year olds do when they’re alone? Media and the internet is what. He was a major book worm as a kid as well as a movie lover who, when he was old enough (Still probably too young since he had no proper adult supervision) took to the internet.
He spends time on tumblr, weibo, etc. because these aren’t people who know him as a person so honesty comes easier. Talking about the latest book he read or TV series he finished to usernames he recognizes is cathartic after he loses all most all his real life “friends”.
I say that if Tin had his way he’d probably major in literature or media because these are things he has loved all his life. Because he was alone but books and movies and tv shows meant other worlds to get lost in and the internet meant anonymously sharing these worlds with people who loved them as much as he did. There he feels less alone in the world for a little while because there he doesn’t have to hide the things he loves for fear of Tul taking them away (sidenote I have a headcanon that every time Tin expressed a love for something, a toy, a book, a person, Tul would find a way to make sure it vanished. Tin caught on that when he loved something it was taken away so he learned to love quietly. Until Can and well…he saw how well that turned out. Maybe it was something wrong with him? Why else would everything he cared about leave?).
This got way too long butI just need a Tin with hobbies and passions okay? All I’ve seen is that he’s a workaholic student but everyone has interests! @andwebegin@florbexter@weilongfu thoughts?
We also have to take into account that Tin spent part of his formative years in England and despite the way it had ended he refuses to let Tul destroy the happy memories he made there. I always pictured him as anglophil and that he enjoys foreign books and movies, maybe even some european ones.
Ditto on him being a smart alec and book nerd but I always thought that since he’s a logical and straightforward thinking kind of guy who has no tolerance for activities that don’t provide some kind of benefit to him, his hobbies will mirror that. He hates his family so he will avoid real estate and wants to excel in something that his family is not well-known as.
I imagine him dabbling in stock and financial markets during his spare time.
Until Can shows him that having hobbies don’t mean you need to gain something tangible.
Tin with stocks and financial markets as a hobby? YAAAASSS.
Tin the closet media nerd? Keeping one thing pleasurable and enjoyable deep in his chest so that Tul can’t steal it? YAASSSSS.
GUYS WHY NOT BOTH.
Tin plays stocks in his spare time around family. He learned his lesson when his favorite novels would disappear and there would be charred pages in the fireplace the next morning. Or he’d find music tapes and movies smashed after playing them on his speakers in his room. The only safe place for movies was the home theater where technically anyone could have watched anything, but the space is too big and lonely for Tin.
Instead all Tul and his father see are spreadsheets and graphs tracking growth and projections before Tin invests. Tin enjoys it, it’s like a puzzle game of sorts, but with higher stakes. It challenges his mind and intuition which is why he picked it up. And if Tul thinks he can tank an entire company to spite Tin, well, that’s how Tul chooses to spend his money and really, Tin sold all his stock in them two months ago at the peak of their gains and has only been tracking them to see if he should get back in.
If the smaller companies Tin invests in are also involved in film and TV… His family doesn’t have to know about those funds either.
But when he’s alone? When he knows no one is home or when he’s at Can’s? Tin reads novels on apps on his phone. Or he queues up movies and TV shows when studying.
Can falls a little deeper in love that day when Tin brings some classic Western horror movies and they have a history of Western horror marathon. Can learns so much about Tin that night as Tin talks the most he’s ever talked. It’s like Tin can’t stop himself, so excited to share this part of his life finally. He rambles about cinematography, about atmosphere, special effects, and his favorite lines.
He even, in a rare slip, shows Can his super secret film blog which Tin finds time to update once a week. Can looks at Tin in wonder, speechless. But Tin only sees his vocal boyfriend suddenly go quiet.
Before he can backtrack, Can puts a hand over Tin’s to stop him from closing the page and kisses Tin softly. Can smiles and stroke’s Tin’s hair and Tin leans into it.
“No, don’t close it. Tell me more.”
They stay up that weekend, laying in Can’s bed with the lights off as Tin explains something from another movie they didn’t get to. But Can can see the pictures Tin traces out with his hands. Tin’s eyes sparkle, his smile is genuine and infectious.
Can wonders just how different things could have been if Tin had been allowed to indulge in his passions freely instead of in secret. But he doesn’t mind keeping this small piece of Tin to himself among all the others, a treasure all his own to rival Tin’s wealth.
I’m not going to lie, I’ve lost half of them after a night’s sleep. 🙈🙈 But I shall list down whatever I can remember.
Also to @krazy-noona who requested the same. Special thanks to @guxuehangzhou for the beautiful GIF set because without it, these headcanons wouldn’t exist (I need to recommit your new name to memory. 😂🙈).
In the LBC fandom we talk a lot about Tins walls and insecurities but I want to talk about Cans
Can deep down feels that he’s not enough for Tin, not rich enough, not attractive enough ect. That’s why Pete brings out the biggest jealousy in him because Pete looks like someone Tin should naturally be with. Tin brought down Cans walls of him feeling like he was too much, he let him talk all the time and enjoy his company.
OH OH wait till Tin sees Bambi or Up or Big Hero 6?!
Imagine Can returning home from university one day to a dark room and muffled sniffling. “AI TIN, WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT WATCHING DISNEY MOVIES ALONE WITHOUT ME? How many times do I have to say that you need parental supervision?!”
but imagine if Tin moves into the same apartment complex as Pete
I mean it would be hilarious, wouldn’t it?
– Obviously Tin and Pete will drive their significant others to their colleges separately. Ae and Tin claims it’s because Can and Ae are in different colleges and it doesn’t make sense to carpool together when the ultimate destinations are opposite ends of the campus. But Pete and Can knows better.
– However, there’s a time when Ae is forced to hitch a ride with Tin. It’s worse considering that it’s just the two of them. Can had a last minute study group to attend (he’s been skipping too many of them due to soccer practices and dates with his bf) and Pete is at home, recovering from a flu. Ae doesn’t want to leave Pete alone in their apartment for too long (and taking the public bus will mean another 45 mins away from his bae) and so the both of them suffer the ride together in silence. They never talk about it ever again.
– Pete and Can likes to have couple dates and both of them agreed to limit it to once a month. Anything more and they know their boyfriends will hit the roof.
– Ae and Tin still like to have their silent staring contests sometimes. Pete and Can learns to distract their lovers before it gets too competitive. Usually a quick peck on the cheeks or a hug will do the trick. They know how much power they have on their lovers.
– Ae did knock on Can and Tin’s apartment door once, asking after Tin. Can didn’t join their conversation because he’s busy cooking dinner but ‘Trump’, ‘gambling debt’ and ‘money’ did come up several times in their conversation. Ae left an hour later and somehow, their interactions seemed to be less hostile from that day onwards.
– Ae and Pete had a big fight. The only reason why Tin knows about it is because Ae has stayed over in their guest bedroom (Ae doesn’t want to be too far away from Pete).
– Can and Ae always runs in the mornings together around the complex with Gucci in tow. Sometimes Pete and Tin joins in when they don’t have morning classes.
– Tin almost didn’t rent the apartment because of the no-pets rule. Despite Can’s argument that he will be only staying over a few times a week, Tin still wanted to find a place where bringing Gucci over should never be a worry. Can didn’t know what happen but after a meeting with the complex’s management, Tin and Pete somehow managed to convince them to do an exception for Gucci. That’s the first time ever that Can realise this is the man he’s going to marry.
